Parents and Carers Peer Support
Our Parent and Peer Support service provides individualised support for parents and carers of children with disability, neurodivergence, behavioural challenges, and complex support needs.
This service is designed to support carers in developing confidence, capacity, and practical strategies to navigate the ongoing demands associated with caregiving, advocacy, and service coordination. Support is provided within a compassionate, non-judgemental environment by professionals with both lived and professional experience.
Areas of support may include:
-
Emotional wellbeing and caregiver support
-
Strategies to reduce stress, burnout, and overwhelm
-
Guidance in navigating support systems, services, and appointments
-
Capacity building to strengthen caregiver confidence and resilience
-
Practical strategies to support regulation, routines, and family wellbeing
-
A supportive space to process challenges and build sustainable supports
Parent and Peer Support may be accessed through a child’s Capacity Building funding where the service directly relates to supporting the parent or carer in their role to meet the child’s needs and implement supports within the home and community environment.
We recognise that each family’s circumstances and availability differ, and flexible appointment options are available, including both in-person and telehealth sessions.
